Sometimes mistakes happen. It is possible for an error to have occurred while you were creating an email, related to your domain name. Here is how to fix that.

First off let’s make a small but significant distinction. If you want to change the email itself, you need to do that from the web hosting control panel. For example from “memail@mysite.com” to “myemail@mysite.com”. The other changes you might want to make are in the email details. Thing like the name that appears in the receiver’s inbox when you send an email, your signature, etc.

 

Change the Email Address

If you have made an error while creating the email account, the sooner you find out about it, the better. Of course, you could have decided to change your business communications to be taken care of “office@mycompany.com” instead of  “sales@mycompany.com”.

For such a change, there is no “one-click fix”. Meaning, you can’t simply rename your email.

What you need to do is to go to your web hosting control panel, and locate the Email Manager section. From there you will have to create a new email.

NB! As you may have a lot of previous communication and a lot of partners and customers might still use your old email, it is best for you to create an Email Alias.

 

Change the Email Details

If you have made a mistake or just a change of staff occurs, and you need to change the names of the sender, you can do that in the Email Client that you are using.

Depending on which one you are using you may have or might not have this option. If the option is not available to you, a simple solution is to just remove your email from the client and set it up once again.

What is an Email Alias

An email alias is an additional email address for an email account. It can both send and receive emails. However, the Alias does not have a mailbox. Instead, the emails will be received in the recipient’s mailbox. You can create multiple Aliases for a single email account with different domains or even with the same domain. You can also set additional recipients, thus the Email Alias can be used for forwarding emails.

 

How to Create an Email Alias?

You can easily create an email alias by following the below-mentioned process:

  1. Log into your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Go to the Email Accounts section.
  3. Select the Create E-mail Alias tab.
  4. Choose a name for your alias.
  5. Click on the Advanced Settings link.
  6. Enter the recipient’s email address.
  7. Click Create.

Note: If the email address belonging to the recipient is hosted in the same AwardSpace account, you can select the account from the E-mail Recipient drop-down menu list. If the recipient’s email address is hosted on an external server, please enter the destination address in the External E-mail Recipient field.

 

How Can I See or Add Recipients?

To view the current list of recipients, open the E-mail Aliases tab and click on your forwarding address (alias). To view the list, click on the View Recipients link.

What is a Catch-all Account

A catch-all account is the address of an electronic mailbox that can collect all messages that are addressed to an invalid address at the same domain. For example, if you have created a catch-all address (catchall@yourdomain.com) and someone tries to deliver a message to a non-existing account of yours (non-existent@yourdomain.com), their message will end up in your catch-all inbox.

 

How to create a Catch-All Account

Setting up a catch-all account can be done in 7 easy steps:

  1. Log into your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Go to the Email Accounts section.
  3. Select the Create E-mail Account tab.
  4. Fill in all the required fields.
  5. Click on the Advanced Settings link.

How Do I Access the Spam Settings Manager?

To access and manage your e-mail account’s spam settings, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Open the Email Accounts page.
  3. Select the E-mail Accounts tab.
  4. Click on your email address.
  5. Open the Spam Settings tab.

What is the Spam Score?

The score is established based on a number of filtering tests performed on each incoming message by the SpamAssassin software. The higher the Spam Score is on a message, the higher the probability that the message is spam.

 

How Can I Enable Spam Tagging and Recognize Incoming Messages as Spam?

To enable spam tagging on an e-mail account, open the Spam Settings menu and select a Spam Score value from the drop-down list. Keep in mind that if you set a smaller Spam Score value, our anti-spam filtering system may consider regular non-spam messages as spam.

The Spam Tagging option allows you to control and filter incoming messages with a score higher than the default value. You can assign any of the following actions to an incoming spam message:

  • Do not modify the original email body, just flag the subject.
  • Generate a report and set the original email body as an attachment.

How to Whitelist an Email Address or Domain?

You can allow messages from specific email addresses and domain names to come into your AwardSpace.com mailbox by performing the following three actions:

    1. Click the Add Value button next to the Whitelist From setting.

    1. In the E-mail or hostname field, enter the address of the e-mail account/domain name that you wish to allow.

  1. Click the Add button.

Congratulations! Your spam filter has been set up and is ready to use.

 

How to Block (Ban) an Email Address or Domain?

If you do not wish to receive an email from a specific email address or domain, you may use the Blacklist From feature to block incoming messages. To add an email address or domain name to a block list:

    1. Click Add Value, next to the Blacklist From setting.

    1. In the E-mail or hostname field, type the address of the e-mail account/domain that you do not wish to receive further messages from.

What is an iPhone Configurator?

The iPhone Configurator is a tool for configuring and managing e-mail accounts on an iPhone or iPad.

 

How to Configure an E-mail Account on an iOS device using the iPhone Configurator?

Installing an e-mail account on an iPhone/iPad device can be done in 2 easy steps:

 

Step #1: Registering an E-mail Address

  • Log in to the Hosting Control Panel of your AwardSpace hosting account.
  • Visit the E-mail Accounts section.
  • Choose a name for your e-mail address.
  • Choose a password for your e-mail account.
  • Confirm your password and press Create.

Note: Make sure that your password is at least 8 characters long and contains both numbers and letters!

 

Step #2: Installing the Configurator

After successfully creating an e-mail account on your AwardSpace server, click on your mailing address and open up the WebMail menu.

Click on the iPhone Configurator button inside the iPhone Configurator pane.

You will then be taken to the https://www.mailindeed.com/apple/ page where you can specify an account name and enter your AwardSpace e-mail address.

Once all the required fields have been filled, tap the Send button.

You will receive a pop-up message asking you to allow the new profile installation. Select Allow in order to proceed further.

To install the profile, tap the Install button.

Enter the password for your mail server (e-mail account) and click the Continue button.

On the next screen, you will receive a confirmation that your profile has been successfully installed on your device. To finalize the installation process, tap Done.

 

How Can I Access My Mailbox?

To access your AwardSpace e-mail account, open up the Mail app on your iOS device and tap your mailbox.

 

Is iPhone Configurator Compatible with All iOS devices?

What is an Automatic Responder?

An automatic email responder (also known as an auto-reply) is a tool that automatically generates a response to an incoming email. Automatic replies are mainly used to inform senders that you are on vacation or out of your workplace.

 

How Would I Go About Setting Up an Automatic Reply?

Configuring an automatic reply can be achieved by following the below steps:

  1. Sign in to your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Visit the Email Accounts page.
  3. Select the E-mail Accounts tab.
  4. Click on your mailing address. (Do not have an e-mail account yet? You can easily set up one by following the steps in our Creating an Email Account tutorial.)
  5. Open the Auto Responders menu.

Fill in the following information:

  • Auto Responder Name – Give your automatic reply a name.
  • Auto Responder Type – From the drop-down menu list, select your automatic reply type. You can choose from Out of office, Away from office (Holidays), Email received (Will be contacted shortly), Message received (24-48h response), Inquiry received (Will be responded soon), or Custom Auto Responder. The last option allows you to set up a custom automatic reply, without using the premade auto-responder templates.
  • Auto Responder Text – In the Auto Responder Text box, you’re able to customize the text of a template or add your own text message.
  • Use for all incoming e-mails? – If you would like our mail server to send an auto-response to all of the people who send you a message, click Yes. Otherwise, click No and specify your Auto Responder criteria.

In this tutorial, we’re going to show you how to enable email forwarding (filtering) on your AwardSpace e-mail account.

 

What is Email Message Filtering?

E-mail message filtering is the automatic processing and organizing of e-mail messages when a given scenario occurs. For example, you can enable automatic forwarding, replying, rejection or deletion when someone sends you an e-mail message. The best thing about e-mail filtering is that you can enable more than one filter per e-mail account, which can end up in very satisfactory and interesting results.

 

How Can I Enable Email Forwarding on my Email Account?

In order to configure an email forwarder, please follow the below mentioned process:

  1. Log in to the Hosting Control Panel of your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Go to the Email Accounts section.
  3. Select the E-mail Accounts tab.
  4. Click on the email account you wish to add an email forwarder. (Do not have an e-mail account yet? You can easily set up one by following the steps in our Creating an Email Account tutorial.)
  5. Click on the Filters menu.

A new window will appear where you need to enter the following information:

  • Name – Give your email filter a name (for example, email forwarder).
  • Priority – Give your email filter the highest priority.
  • Criteria – Set the first drop-down option to Size (bytes), the second drop-down is larger than and enter 1 in the text field.
  • Action – Set the filter action to “Forward the message to” and then specify your external email address.
  • Continue after this filter? – If you would like your forwarded messages to be stored in your Inbox, select Yes, otherwise select No.

Where Do I Find My Email Settings?

Your email account settings can be found in the Email Manager section of your AwardSpace.com account.

In order to view your settings:

  1. Log in to the Hosting Control Panel of your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Visit the Email Accounts section.
  3. Open the E-mail Accounts tab.
  4. Click on the email account you would like to use. (Do not have an e-mail account yet? You can easily set up one by following the steps in our Creating an Email Account tutorial.)

Mail server address: mboxhosting.com (if you own a free account, please use free.mboxhosting.com)
Port number: 25 or 587
Username: name@yourdomain.com
Password: the password for your e-mail account

 

IMAP/POP3 Settings

Mail server address: mboxhosting.com (if you own a free account, please use free.mboxhosting.com)
Port number: For IMAP, please use 143. For POP3, please configure port 110 in your email client program.
Username: name@yourdomain.com
Password: the password for your e-mail account

Note: Our SMTP mail server requires authentication, so please make sure you have that option enabled in your mail program.

 

Does Your Mail Server Support SSL Connections?

SSL can be enabled on all mobile devices and desktop applications. If you’re on a paid plan and wish to use SSL to connect to your mail server, please configure the following settings in your email client:

IMAP/POP3 mail server: mboxhosting.com

What is a Mailing List?

A mailing list is a group of electronic mailboxes that can all be reached by sending a single message to an email account, the mailing list’s administrative email address.

 

What Type of Mailing List Software Do You Offer?

The mailing software we provide for our customers is called Majordomo. For full details, please visit the official Majordomo website.

 

How Would I Go About Setting Up a Mailing List?

Setting up a mailing list on your AwardSpace account can be achieved in four easy steps:

  1. Log into your AwardSpace Control Panel.
  2. Visit the Mailing Lists page.
  3. Fill in the appropriate fields.
  4. Finally, click on the Create button.

After you have completed the steps above, your list will appear in the Mailing Lists menu (as shown below).

Is There Any Documentation for Majordomo?

If you are new to Majordomo and do not know where to begin, please review our Owners & Subscribers manuals for instructions and tips on how to configure your software.

List of Useful and Frequently Used Majordomo Commands

Below is a list of the most commonly used Majordomo commands:

  • subscribe listname – Your subscribers can use this command to sign up for your mailing list.
  • unsubscribe listname – Gives your subscribers the option to remove their email address from your address list.
  • config listname password – Allows the mailing list administrator to view the current software settings.
  • newconfig listname password – Allows the administrator to make changes to the current setup.

We will review each command individually in the next four paragraphs.

 

How to Subscribe to a Mailing List?

In order for your customers to sign up for your mailing list, they will need to perform the following steps:

    1. They will need to send an email to majordomo@yourdomain.com with the command subscribe listname in the email body:

    1. Majordomo will then ask the sender for confirmation:

    1. In order for your subscribers to confirm the request, they will need to send an authorization code (like the one provided in the screenshot above) to majordomo@yourdomain.com.

  1. After successful registration, Majordomo will send a confirmation message to your customer.

Note: Please ensure you replace listname with your actual mailing list name. For instance, if you had configured a mailing list with the name addresslist@yourdomain.com, the name of your list would be address list.

 

How to Unsubscribe from a Newsletter?

Every subscriber can easily remove their email address from your list by sending a message to majordomo@yourdomain.com and executing the command unsubscribe listname:

Administering a Mailing List

You’re able to control and manage your Majordomo software using your administrative mailing list address (e.g. admin@yourdomain.com). Below we’ve provided a couple of examples of how to check and modify your Majordomo configuration settings.

To view the current Majordomo settings, send a message to majordomo@yourdomain.com with the following content:

If you wish to make an alteration to your mailing list settings (e.g. to change your subscription policy), you would need to send a message to majordomo@yourdomain.com with the following content:

After you have submitted the request, Majordomo will send you an email confirming the changes.

Note: Majordomo requires all emails sent from the administrative contact email address to majordomo@yourdomain.com to be in plain-text format. We kindly ask you to avoid using our built-in webmail program while administering your list, due to the fact that Roundcube only supports HTML emails.

If you attempt to send a message from the administrative email address of your mailing list in HTML format, your software may become corrupt. Therefore, we recommend using an email client that supports plain-text formatting.

 

Am I Allowed to Use a Different Mailing List Program?

In addition to being able to use Majordomo, you can also use another app for managing your list of subscribers and email marketing campaigns. We recommend using the following alternatives, however, you may use any mailing list application or software of your choice:

  • You can install external software (such as phpList) on a domain/sub-domain hosted in your account.
  • If you’re a Joomla user, you can add an additional Joomla extension for administering your subscribers’ list. One of the most popular extensions is AcyMailing.
  • In case your website is WordPress-based, you can choose from the available plugins here.

 

Limitations You Should Be Aware of When Sending Email

In order to prevent spam and unsolicited email sending, we’ve decided to place certain restrictions on our mail server.

On a shared hosting server, the number of messages that can be sent within a single hour and day are:

  • 150 emails per hour per hosting account
  • 1000 emails per day per hosting account

The SMTP limits on our semi-dedicated hosting platform are:

  • 200 messages per hour per hosting account
  • 2000 messages per day per hosting account

What is Webmail?

Webmail is a web-based mail application that allows you to access you mailbox from any device with a web browser.

 

What Type of Mail Program Do You Offer?

The mail application offered by AwardSpace is called Roundcube.

 

How Can I Access Roundcube?

Roundcube can be accessed in two ways:

  • through the AwardSpace Control Panel

Sign in to your Awardspace web hosting account and visit the Email Accounts page. Click on your mailing address and open up the WebMail menu.

In order to access your mailbox, either click on the RoundCube button inside the Roundcube pane or follow the mail.mydomain.com link. In our example, we’ve used mail.mydomain.dx.am.

Note: If you’re an iPhone user and wish to configure your AwardSpace e-mail account on your mobile device, you can use the iPhone Configurator tool for that purpose.

  • via Web Browser

The second option is to access Roundcube directly in a browser. Our Roundcube mail application is available at https://www.mailindeed.com/roundcube/.

Enter your username (e-mail account) and password, after that press Login.

 

How to Import/Export Email Messages via Roundcube?

 

Importing Emails

Listed below are the steps to add a message to your mailbox:

  1. Sign in to your email account (as described above).
  2. Click on the Gear icon in the left pane.
  3. Select Import messages from the list.
  4. Select the message that you wish to import to the server and press Upload.

Exporting Emails

To export an email message:

  1. Log into your email account (as shown above).
  2. Select the message that you wish to download.
  3. From the More menu, choose Download (.eml).
  4. Choose a destination directory and press Save.

Note: Roundcube only allows one message at a time to be downloaded. If your email account happens to contain a large number of email messages, we recommend using an email client program for exporting your data. Some of the software that has export functionality is Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.

 

How to Import/Export Contacts via Roundcube?

 

Importing Contacts

To import your existing contacts into Roundcube, please perform the following actions:

    1. Log into your AwardSpace email account.
    2. Click on the Address Book icon.
    3. Select Import from the list.

Exporting Contacts

You can export your Webmail contents in four easy steps:

    1. Sign in to your AwardSpace email account.
